In South Africa I really loved staying at the Clifftop Safari hideaway set inside the private Welgevonden Reserve in Limpopo, where eight luxury suites overlook a stark deep ravine of the river Sterkstroom. Only 3 hours by road from Johannesburg, this is part of the UB owned Kingfisher Resorts. Clifftop Lodge was designed by one of South Africa’s leading architects to be eco-friendly.
The comfy wicker furniture in neutral tones, the trendy accessories in wood and metal and the light fittings embedded in twigs of driftwood all give the place a rustic but chic ambience. I loved the silver and white colour scheme which was even more attractive at night. The infinity pool and the open plan layout framed the surrounding scenery perfectly!
There was no television, wifi or even phone signals to distract me from the deafening silence and the earthy aromas.
