In South Africa I really loved staying at the Clifftop Safari hideaway set inside the private Welgevonden Reserve in Limpopo, where eight luxury suites overlook a stark deep ravine of the river Sterkstroom.   Only 3 hours by road from Johannesburg, this is part of the UB owned  Kingfisher Resorts. Clifftop Lodge was designed by one of South Africa’s leading architects to be eco-friendly.P1090953

With  all white buildings linked by white decks with private plunge pools , this minimalist lodge looks more like a tasteful boutique property than a safari lodge.P1090958P1090982

The comfy wicker furniture in neutral tones, the trendy accessories in wood and metal and the light fittings embedded in twigs of driftwood all give the place a rustic but chic ambience. I loved the silver and white colour scheme which was even more attractive at night. The infinity pool and the open plan layout framed the surrounding scenery perfectly!IMG_7542

I loved my room with a plunge pool and a great view of the ravine. Perfect place to write..P1090990IMG_7666IMG_7669IMG_7673

I enjoyed our  game drives, smothered in fleece and rugs with Sebastion Spann, the young, energetic ranger and the hot towels and glasses of Amarula that awaited us on our return.IMG_7688

The cuisine served at Clifftop  was a pleasing fusion of African and Western flavours.P1090986

There was no television, wifi or even  phone signals  to distract me from the deafening silence and the earthy aromas.
